January Favourites

I never got round to writing a happy new year post at the start of 2016, so now the first month is over I want to take the opportunity to wish you the best year yet and I truly hope 2016 is a positive year for everyone. I feel like since the start of 2015 every month has been flying by; literally January was over within a blink of an eye and I'm guessing the rest of this year won't be much different.

-L'Oreal Root Conceal-

So this has been my secret weapon since going dark as my roots have been making an appearance! This is a handy little spray which covers up your roots and honestly it makes going between colourings a lot more of a pleasant experience. I will say that if you go a little too heavy with this it can make your hair look a little greasy, so build it gradually rather than spraying furiously in one spot, but aside from that it's such a useful little product and has been a lifesaver for me recently.

-Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette-

It's such a shame this isn't easy to get hold of if you're in the UK like me, but let me tell you know it's definitely worth the overseas shipping. I use this absolute beauty every single day and the bronzer shades and highlighting powder shades are all stunning and I find are really complimentary on my skin tone. It's also nice to have a palette where each and every shade is used rather than just one or two. If you put a gun to my head and made me decide if I preferred the bronzing or highlighting powders, I'd have to say I do prefer the highlighting powders. I apply it under my eyes to set my concealer, up the bridge of my nose and on my forehead and chin and it's like airbrushing those areas; it sets my foundation in those areas and gives just a little extra bit of coverage which I adore. Okay, I'm not going to talk too much more about this because I might do a full review at some point but yes you get the idea I adore this beauty!

I mean will you look at that?!

-BH Cosmetics Galaxy Chic Palette-

Again, I'm not going to talk too much about this product as I will probably do a full review on it very soon but this has been my ride or die recently. If I'm feeling a creative and colourful makeup look I reach straight for this bad boy, it has so many gorgeous unique colours, with this palette I feel like the possibilities are endless. Although this isn't expensive at all, the quality is amazing so I would definitely recommend this if you're looking for a product to really change up your makeup looks.

-MAC Chestnut Lip Liner-

Ever since Kylie Jenner's lip kits landed and I set my eyes upon True Brown K, I've been obsessing over brown lips. I'm still searching for my absolute holy grail lighter brown lip colour (Spirit by MAC is almost the perfect shade but I just feel in my heart there is one 100% perfect), but I have managed to source the most gorgeous dark brown lip shade. Although this is a lip liner rather than a lipstick, the colour of Chestnut is just perfect and I always use it all over my lips to create a stunning matte brown lip shade. I only actually bothered trying MAC's lip liners recently and I'm not kidding when I say they are totally worth the hype. I was always content using NYX liners and although I'll definitely still buy NYX ones, I do have to admit the price of the MAC ones are reflected in the quality.

I feel like considering I've been playing with so much makeup recently, I haven't had lots and lots of favourites this month. I think because there are so many things I really like at the moment it was hard to narrow down absolute favourites, but these four beauties were definitely worth mentioning.

  4. Lovely favourites, love the photos! I really like the look of those marbled shadows, so pretty! I really want to get on the brown lips hype, although probably not as dark and vampy as the Kylie Jenner lip kit colour, something a bit more wearable.
