Summer Night Shadows

The evening is all about getting glammed up and the eyes are one of the best features to show off your makeup on. We love glittery lids, smoked out eyes and full lashes at night, and being in the middle summer gives room for even more experimentation with bright, bold and beautiful colours.

This gorgeous purple shade from Bourjois gives it all; sparkle and a pop of colour. Berry colours aren't only for the winter, and this is the perfect example of how to twine that colour palette into summer. Although the shade by itself isn't too long lasting, keep secure by using a good eye shadow primer or base; or both to be on the super safe side! Work this shadow into your eye look with brows and blacks to make beautiful colour stand out.

The khaki trend this summer has creeped from our wardrobes into our beauty routines; a favourite look at the moment is brown lips with deep green smokey eyes. Urban Decay's Loaded is a gorgeous, almost-black green shadow that is perfect for when you want a dark coloured shadow look with a difference. Although this is a shimmer shadow, the shimmer is very subtle but the pigmentation is to die for as the colour transfers onto your lid exactly as it is in the pan, the shade is truly gorgeous and will have your friends green with envy.

A Kiko store recently opened up in Brighton, meaning we've got our hands on some gorgeous items by them for the first time! After a very long time swatching and browsing, a stand out is undoubtedly their Colour Sphere eye shadows and shade 28 is an evening must. Black glitter can be used to create the ultimate smoldering and sexy eyes and this shadow does that flawlessly.

Not an eyeshadow but definitely an essential when wanting to create an on point eye look. Spray directly only your brush before picking up the shade to maximize your shadow's vibrancy, gleam and long wear. For even more fix, spray again after completing your full face of makeup to keep it looking fresh and polished for even longer.

We can't forget a matte shade. From the first Urban Decay Naked Palette, the shade Buck is an absolute must have all year round, especially in summer. Buck is a matte, slightly darker brown which is a perfect transition or crease shade for a daytime or evening look. If you're looking to step away from dramatic eyes and opt for something a little more natural, work Buck into the crease of your eye to emphasize them. Natural shades like Buck are a necessity to any makeup stash and they are so versatile and can be paired with literally any other shade.

  5. The single eyeshadows look so, so stunning! And the colour combination is gorgeous. I don't own any of the naked palettes but I do think a lot of the shades look really pretty and incredibly versatile. Really great choices here!
