5 Beautiful Uses For Coconut Oil

Over the past year I've well and truly converted to all natural skincare. One of my most loved products as a result of this is coconut oil, which became a staple product in my skincare routine a good few months back. I initially bought myself a pot of coconut oil as a natural alternative to eye make-up remover, but since first buying it I've discovered it has many more beautiful uses.

-Makeup Remover-

The use for coconut oil that caught my attention in the first place. From heavy face makeup to stubborn eye makeup, coconut oil dissolves it all away instantly. I absolutely love coconut oil as a makeup remover as it is super, super gentle on your skin and, of course, an all natural product which means no need for nastiness coming into contact with your skin. When searching for a makeup remover you want a product that will both remove your makeup quickly and effectively, but also that won't harm your skin in the process and coconut oil definitely fits the bill.

-Massage Oil-

You won't catch me saying no to a coconut oil massage. Warm it up for a short while to create a gorgeous soft, beautifully scented oil for a full body massage. As it is known for being the culprit behind soft skin coconut oil should most definitely be high on your 'oil of choice' list. For those of you that like to consider the more practical side of things, you'll be pleased to know that it doesn't stain, so don't be shy of getting it out the cupboard when you're wanting a pamper evening.

-Fading Acne Scars and Stretchmarks-

The effects of coconut oil as an acne treatment is a well debated one as while some people swear that it's a comedogenic, others believe that it is an amazing product for curing acne. Whilst I don't know which side of that argument to take, I do agree with the many people who claim that coconut oil fades acne scarring and stretchmarks. Coconut oil is great for resulting in smooth, firmer skin and can fade scars and stretchmarks efficiently over time. Apply to the problem area twice a day to see for yourself!

-Cleaning Makeup Brushes-

The bitter moment when you realise you have to clean your makeup brushes. UGH, it is such a chore but so annoying necessary! There are hundreds of methods for cleaning your makeup brushes effectively and loads of products on the market that you can buy to do so. So, what makes coconut oil stand out from the rest? For one, you can buy coconut oil for next to nothing. In its solid for you can purchase 100g for £3.50 and although it is cheap, the benefits aren't reflected by the cost. I am very particular about what I put on my skin and coconut oil is purely organic and non-toxic which makes it a perfect product for taking care of your brushes and also your skin. As mentioned, it melts away makeup completely effortlessly and is also anti-bacterial so you can be certain the dirt, grime and nastiness that has built up on your brushes will be left sparking clean.

-Healthy Cooking-

Recently I've been working a lot of nights and I've found myself wanting constantly through my shift. I literally find myself running to the vending machine before I even stop to think about what I'm doing! I've been trying to educate myself a bit more on healthy snacks to avoid ramming a double decker down my throat at 10.30pm and satisfy my boredem food cravings in a way that is a bit better for me. Coconut oil is a great substitute for both butter and oils and is also proven to boost your metabolism and fight sugar cravings. It doesn't get much better than that, right?! Here are some coconut oil snack recipes I am dying to try: Coconut Oil and Peanut Butter Chips, Frozen Banana Bites (Vegan), Coconut Delights and Healthy Chocolate Oatmeal Bars. I did just want to link you guys to two recipes then, but honestly they all look so damn good I couldn't help but share all four!

These are honestly just a few of the amazing benefits of coconut oil, it has so many uses it truly is an underestimated oil! Writing this post has really been a reminder to myself just how essential coconut oil is to my every day life; I'm near the end of my pot so I am going to scurry on over to Amazon shortly to order myself another!

  8. I work as a swim instructor so I spend about 8-9 hours a day in the chlorine water so I use coconut oil to keep the chlorine from absorbing into my skin and to keep my skin soft.
