Spring Style: The Homeware Edit

It's the season of sun and the ideal time to inject some colour into your household. Think light, bright and airy when it comes to the home in spring; it's time to put away the thick, furry throws and bring in the fresh flowers.

The one thing I'm absolutely dying for in our flat is a white coffee table. I don't just want one, I need one; the white coffee table is the perfect item to add instant brightness to a room and give it a crisp feel. Unfortunately there is no way in hell I could have one with our current living arrangements, our flatmate is like a bull in a china shop, there'd be red wine all over it within a week. White wood ware like coffee tables and bookshelves are a great investment to add sleek, chic and brightness into your room without it looking too stark as you can layer other items such as tea light holders, vases and books on them.

Minimalism and all white is popular everywhere at the moment, especially in homeware, but I think spring is the perfect season to place some alternative colours around the home. I love the red floor lamp pictured above and furniture like the pink armchair are a gorgeous way to make a colourful statement in the room without being too in your face.

Coming into spring something I've found myself doing is buying flowers to put around the flat. I adore fresh flowers in the house but there's no denying that it is expensive to maintain, especially as a student! Artificial flowers are a great way to add the same feminine touch as real ones but without the pricey upkeep. Faux flowers cover a pretty wide price range; I've seen some available for hundreds and others under the twenty pound mark so there is something available for every budget. Personally, I'd be more inclined to buy artificial flowers on the cheaper side so they aren't wasted if I want to change them up halfway through the year.
