Beauty Haul

Earlier this week myself and Jessica of Blonde of Carbs went into Brighton to do a little bit of shopping, which then turned in to a lot of shopping. I don't remember the last time I bought so much make-up in one go, so what else is there to do except a haul post to share with you my beauty buys?

Leaving the house on Tuesday morning I knew that one of the things I needed to pick up was a matte bronzer. The matte bronzer I'd be using on a day-to-day basis had a grey tint to it and a very chalky texture which I wasn't a massive fan of, so I was really looking for one that I could fall in love with and use every day. I was looking for Make-up Revolution's All About Bronze Palette, which I have tried to buy before but accidentally bought the Blush Palette (which I love) instead. Unfortunately they didn't have it in the Superdrug in Churchill Square but I did find myself swatching their Vivid Baked Bronzers and although I loved them I walked away as I really wanted a matte bronzer rather than a highlighting one. After a bit of browsing we then found ourselves wondering over the the Barry M stand where their Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit caught my eye. I just so happened to swatch the matte bronze in the Contour Kit next to where I'd swatched the Make-up Revolution Vivid Baked Bronzer in Golden Days and holy cow, what a beautiful combination. In an instant I'd picked up the Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit and the Make-up Revolution Vivid Baked Bronzer as, to be honest, if that wasn't a match made in heaven, I don't know what is. From Superdrug I also got myself L'Oreal's True Match Foundation (in shade W4) after picking it up and putting it down the other day; the time apart had only made me realise how much I needed it. Although I didn't manage to find myself the Make-up Revolution palette I was after I will definitely be ordering myself it in the next few days, but I am really happy with what I bought in its place!

The last four items I bought were all lipsticks. Who needs four lipsticks at one time?! Me, obviously. In all fairness I only bought two of these while I was out with Jessica, the other two I bought online a few days ago and arrived earlier this week so I didn't technically buy four lipsticks in one sitting. After going into a few clothes shops where Jess got herself some gorgeous spring/summer picks and I bought some bits for James, it had stopped raining (luckily as Jess had two MASSIVE Primark bags. Packed paper bags in the rain is a recipe for disaster) so we went into the lanes. We popped into the MAC store where I specifically wanted to buy the lipstick Taupe as I'd seen it swatched online quite a few times and had fallen in love with the shade. When I actually swatched it in store I was really surprised at how dark it looked and disappointingly didn't fall in love with it as much as I thought I would. I swatched a few other shades and Cherish, which is a satin nude, and Mehr, a matte pink nude, really stood out to me and I had to get them! As I'm writing this I'm still feeling a sense of confusion and betrayal that Taupe was not what I expected at all, don't get it wrong, it is a beautiful shade and I'll definitely buy it at some point, but it just wasn't what I was looking for on that particular shopping trip.

Whilst in the lanes we also wanted to go to Lush and had a complete mare trying to find it, as usual. I think maybe I know the way now, but after the amount of times I've got lost trying to find it it's a bit embarrassing that I only maybe, half know how to get there. I didn't buy anything myself in Lush but I talked Jess into buying Mask of Magnanimity as I bought it for myself a few weeks back and have been obsessed with it. I almost bought myself another pot as I'm near the end of mine but as I like to buy the one that isn't self preserving I thought I better not until it's actually all gone, as I don't want to be worrying about expiration dates.

After buying all that while I was out and about I felt like I was being spoilt coming home to even more beauty bits. My other two lipsticks that I had bought online were from Wet and Wild and are both darker shades, hence my want to buy lighter shades in MAC. Wet and Wild isn't available in the UK so I've never tried anything from their brand before, but they weren't expensive so it seemed like there was no harm in trying especially as I'd read some quite nice reviews. The shades I bought were Cinnamon Spice and Mochalicious which are a gorgeous deep red and brown shade.

I haven't had a proper chance to test out these products yet as they are all so new, but keep your eyes peeled for reviews in the future to get the full low down on these beauties!
