MAC Strobe Cream

MAC Strobe Cream Review
MAC Strobe Cream- MAC Cosmetics

Whilst searching for a new primer I stumbled across MAC's Strobe Cream which isn't necessarily a primer but a skincare product that banishes dull skin and boosts brightness and radiance. I know people use their own Strobe Cream in a variety of ways; mixing it with their foundation, as a moisturizer or just as a highlighter but I personally like to use mine as an illuminating primer.

As a primer, Strobe Cream ticks all the boxes for me. I find it reduces redness and blurs my pores slightly whilst smoothing my skin. The most important element for me is definitely reducing redness as I've blemish prone skin which is often red (joy) and I find this seems to calm my redness perfectly and just as well -if not better- than actual primers I've tried which is ideal for me. The base this creates for me is a illuminate one which gives me a subtle glow that isn't too shiny which is perfect for me as I've naturally oily skin. Finding the perfect illuminating product can be hard for oily skinned people like myself but I find this provides the perfect combination of glow and fixture for my make-up, my oil levels are still under control while I use this.

Another element of Strobe Cream which I adore is that a little really goes a long way- which is a definite plus for any beauty product. The first time I used this as a highlighter over my make-up I only squirted a pea sized amount out onto my finger and it was more than enough to cover all the areas I needed and there were leftovers. As a highlighter and as a primer, I've felt Strobe Cream is lightweight and leaves my skin dewy but not overly shiny, and not at all glittery which personally isn't to my taste unless it's a glamorous occasion

In some ways I like this more as a make-up product than a skincare product as I haven't really found it's made any long term or permanent improvement to my complexion as it claims to, I only find it gives a semi permanent result which disappear when I remove my make-up of an evening. This isn't really an issue for me as I really just use it as a primer but if you're looking at this from a skincare point of view (which it is marketed as) that might be something for you to keep in mind.

Strobe Cream is now my go-to primer for a dewy, natural glow and although I don't imagine this will run out any time soon, it'll be a definitely repurchase for me!
