Gradient Greys

As the evening gets darker, so does my make-up and I've really enjoyed creating bold, sultry eyes rather than my bright and minimal summer eye make-up recently. For a night out you can't beat a black smokey eye, but for something a little bit different but still equally as glamorous I love playing around with metallics.

This simple eye look is super easy to create - definitely easier than a traditional smokey eye - as you just need to make a simple gradient from nude to metallic dark grey to achieve it. I started by sweeping a nude shadow across my whole lid then began creating a gradient with my grey colours. You can start your gradient anywhere but I like to do it from the center of my eyelid, not for any reason really, just personally preference! Blend the lightest grey into the nude, subtly getting darker until the darkest grey is at the corner of your eye. Another matter of preference is the height of the make-up; I've done it quite close to my brow bone which I think is appropriate for an evening look, but for something slightly more conservative you may want to keep your shadow slightly lower. I finished with a smooth line of my Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner Pen (I've reviewed this beauty here if you fancy a read!) and a quick application of mascara.

The shades used in this make-up look were a shimmery nude, a grey and then grey blended with a shimmery black to form a slightly darker metallic grey all from my ELF 100 Piece Palette (as usual!), but you can use any eye shadows you have to re-create this look.

What evening eye make-up looks are you loving at the moment?

  2. This looks so elegant for such a simple technique - they're always the best because as much as I love make-up and playing around with it, when I've got somewhere to be I want to do my makeup quickly!
