Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner Pen

Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner Pen- Boots

After nearly a month of not buying anything new for myself as I've been scrimping for my deposit and preparing for my new life as a penniless student living away from home, I caved. Luckily I didn't have a complete meltdown and purchase the most expensive thing I set eyes on, I spent less than a fiver on a cheeky little discounted item I spied on Cohorted. If you haven't heard of Cohorted before, it's basically every bargain hunter's dream. Each week a select few products are available to buy on the site and with the more people that 'join a Cohort' to buy the item, the more the product gets discounted. Sounds a bit confusing, right? It's surprisingly not, it's super easy to use and there are always amazing goodies up for grabs.

Anyway, I digress! The Supercat Eyeliner Pen is actually my first ever Soap & Glory product if you can bring yourself to believe that a beauty blogger has never tried Soap & Glory before- haha. I'm pretty shocked at myself to be honest, I've read endless amazing reviews on a number of their products and have always had a least three on all my wishlists but I've somehow never got round to actually buying any...until now. I'm really excited to say that my ridiculously high expectations of the brand have been met; everything from the quirky, shiny packaging down to the fabulous quality of the make-up.

I'm personally very picky when it comes to my liquid eyeliner. If the applicator is too thin, the consistency too liquidy it will apply a mess and I'll end up giving up on it. Saying that, I am patient - I'll give a product a few tries to get used to- but if I really can't get on with it the line is drawn in the sand and there's no going back. Despite this, within a few tries of using Supercat liner I felt myself getting the hang of it. The pen form of the product means you can hold the liner with ease and familiarity, making that precise and perfect line a lot simpler to achieve. The more I use it there easier it becomes to do the bolder, high impact make-up looks, so anyone searching for a liquid eyeliner with effortless application, look no further.

Once applied (easily), the liner itself is flawless. This is probably the blackest and boldest an eyeliner I've ever owned, the colour is so gorgeously jet black I really bought this at the ideal time as it's coming into AW14. During the day I do tend to opt for a softer look on my eyes as the lines this produces are extremely sharp, dark and bold, but of an evening this will definitely be a go-to. The finish is dramatic, seductive, super even and free of smudges, I couldn't honestly fault it in that department.

The only gripe I have with the product is that it advises to "use the fine point for a natural look or the thick edge for a dramatic flash,". Right, so I understand that but what I don't understand is putting it into practice. Whenever I've attempted to use the thick edge I just make a massive mess and I can't understand why you wouldn't just use the fine end for all of the application. I can't work out whether I'm just being silly or that's really rubbish advice so I'd love to get your feedback on that statement too. Am I doing it wrong?!

Aside from that one fluke which may or may not be a bit of stupidity on my part, I'm pleased to say that Soap & Glory have not let me down with the amazing quality of this eyeliner. It's definitely one that will be well used and I'm hoping this will be the beginning of a long love affair between myself and Soap & Glory cosmetics.

  3. Ooh I've seen this eyeliner pop up in a few places but have yet to try it. I'm usually always opt for gel liners, having found eyeliner pens that I've used in the past to not last very long at all. They're so much more quicker to apply though so I may have to give this pen a chance!

  4. I LOVE this liner, I just use it so the nib is sideways and glide it along for a thick look, I prefer pens to liquid I think xxx
