winter eye makeup 2014 autumn party aw14 aw

Yesterday marked the first day of Autumn and stepping out in the morning it certainly felt like it! The sky was white with cloud and the air was crisp and this year I'm actually really looking forward to getting into autumn and winter for once. Typically I despise any cold weather and in turn the cold seasons, but as autumn rolls over I'm looking forward in fondness to seeing the orange leaves, sipping hot drinks and digging out the blankets. But most of all, I'm looking forward to getting a Christmas tree, my very first own Christmas tree!

During autumn and winter along with the nights, make-up suddenly turns very dark. The black eye shadow seems to get dusted off and onto our eyes and whilst I love a good smokey eye, it can be nice to see a flash of colour in winter make-up every now and again; it's coming up to party season after all! I understand that not all bright colours are suitable for AW, you don't want to look like someone that can't quite shake off summer, but a bright shade that will carry you through the colder months is an icy white/blue. The one I use is from my trusty 100 piece ELF palette  and I adore the icy white streak in the corner of my eyes to really open them up and accentuate them.

In this make-up look I've blended the white blue into grey in a subtle smokey eye effect for a bright, bold but still conventional look, but this ice hue can be used in a variety of ways for both everyday and formal occasions. For a more reserved look try applying a single line over your lids or dusting the corner of your eyes with it. If you're feeling bolder, use all over your eyelid or under your eyes for a more eye catching and eye opening result.

Do you have a signature winter bright eyeshadow?

  7. I really struggle to make anything except neutral/smokey for me so I'd definitely always back away from blue, but this looks so pretty and I just know I'll be wandering around fighting the urge to yell out LET IT GOOOOO the whole time that I'm wearing it. I'll definitely have to give it a go!
