Pillow Talk

Rimmel London Pillow Talk Rita Ora nails youwishyou beauty review

Who doesn't love fresh nails? Going to the nail bar getting my nails done is definitely my favourite form of pampering; I always feel like brand new afterwards. Unfortunately though, I've had square nails for quite a few months now and I'm definitely getting bored of them. There's a change due so while these beauties are growing out I'll have a think of a new shape; not that there are a lot of options to choose from, it'll either be oval, pointed or the intriguing squoval... what do you all think?

The most recent polish my fingers and toes are sporting (they're matching for once) is Rita Ora for Rimmel London's Pillow Talk. I'm a huge fan of Rimmel London's make-up as a whole, they provide amazing quality for money, have a fabulous variety of products and of course have had some amazing celebrity collaborations. Of course the most important aspect of any nail polish is the actual colour and I adore the dreamy baby blue shade of Pillow Talk. The hue is a icy, pastel blue shade which provides the same adorable feel as any pastel colours but without the over the top cutesy and girly look of pastel pinks, purples and yellows. All in all, Pillow Talk has the trendiness of pastels but with an added sophistication, which I love.

Moving away from colour, let's talk about the 60 Second Dry promise behind this polish. If I'm honest, it doesn't live up to this claim. At the salon, I normally sit at the dryer for around 10 minutes to wait for my newly painted talons to dry. Sometimes even after that waiting time, I have to be careful with them to avoid smudging or chipping - is there anything worse than ruining your new nails the same day as you got them done?! One time I'd waited for them to dry, then as I was getting my debit card from my purse to pay, I smudged my nails. This is a mistake I've definitely learnt from; now I always pay first and I don't trust only ten minutes for drying. So, I was hoping this polish would subside my wariness around dryness, but I was let down. After waiting the usual 10 minutes the technician came to check my nails and asked me to wait another 5 minutes for them to dry, so much for 60 seconds! In total I waited around 15 minutes, which is too far from 60 seconds to even give that claim an ounce of credibility. In all fairness though, I do have two coats put on to my nails, so maybe if I'd just had one it would have been only a minute drying. But, if my calculations are correct if one coat is meant to take 60 seconds, then two should only take 120 seconds which still is a far cry from 15 minutes!

But, aside from the drying time lies, I love a bit of Pillow Talk (hehe). The colour is unique, sophisticated and delicate which is pretty much everything you could ask for in a nail polish.

You can buy Rimmel London's Pillow Talk from Look Fantastic for only £3.69.

  3. Gorgeous nail polish! I love the shade :) Shame about the drying time - I always find it takes at least an hour for two coats and a top coat to properly dry! xx

  10. I absolutely love the colour but am disappointed that the 60 sec claim is untrue - damn you Rimmel. I quite like a short stiletto nail myself though I have also enjoyed a squoval x

  14. It's such a gorgeous shade!! It's a shame thought that the 60 second thing is a lie because it would have definitely been a reason why I would have picked it up! Now I have to think about it! I don't think we have the Rita Ora range here in Canada though! Thank you for sharing your link with me on Twitter!!

  15. I finally made it to your blog! I love the colour of this nail polish. I really like the light blues. Also Rimmel nail polishes have the best brushes. I have never been to a salon and had my nails done. I always walk past them and smell the really pungent smell of nail polish and it makes me want to heave. I am sure I wouldn't be able to sit in there. However, I am tempted to go get my nails done at some point I kind of like the idea as I am forever applying, removing and applying more nail polish.
