Elemis FreshSkin Overnight Serum

Recently I've been obsessed with my skin. When I was in my pre-teens I was prone to blemishes but since I've only had the occasional spot. Then suddenly, since April I've had blemishes on my cheeks that haven't budged and the closer I've been getting to my holiday the more they've upset me. I wasn't wearing make-up on my face whenever possible and I was still cleansing every day, so I couldn't understand why the blemishes weren't improving.

In the past few months I've been buying product after product in a hope to find something that will calm my skin down. I've bought creams, cleansers and washes all of which haven't made a dent in my angry spots, so when I bought this Elemis Freshskin Overnight Serum I was near the end of my tether; I honestly didn't feel like anything was going to improve my skin and I was just going to have to live with spotty cheeks forever.

Within the first week of using the serum -as I expected- I didn't notice any changes. That's fine, just another product that couldn't help my skin, that's just the way it is right? I just wanted to accept it then and there that my skin was never going to be normal again. A few days later my boyfriend, who knows how much my spots have been bothering me said, "Your skin is starting to look better," out of the blue. I actually didn't believe him at first, I thought he was just trying to make me feel better about the situation, but some days after that I looked in the mirror and saw that my spots were a lot less angry and some were even starting to fade. As the weeks started to tick past I slowly but surely saw more improvement to the blemishes, they're now at the point where they're almost just marks on my face, there's very little of that 3-D effect going on anymore.

The improvements may be a combination of wearing less make-up, using less cleansing products as well as the use of this Elemis serum, but I definitely feel like this has kick started the correction of my skin which I'm absolutely thrilled about. Even though my skin still isn't back to it's usual self and no way near perfect, I'm still really impressed that actual changes have been made, especially after all this time I was really starting to give up hope.

I guess on top of reviewing and recommending this product, I'm also trying to say don't give up on your skin even when you feel like it's never going to get better. Different treatments work for different skin types so don't be disheartened if you feel like you've tried every product under the sun and you still aren't seeing results because (and trust me on this one) there is something for everyone. You'll find your skincare soulmate, I promise. Hopefully the changes this is making to my skin will continue and this'll be mine!

  1. Congrats on finding an item that has clicked for your skin! It took me a couple tries to get it right, but I now have two separate nightcreams (one for fall/winter, and one for spring/summer) that help my skin perform beautifully year round. Elemis is a great brand (I love their bath products) so I'll have to try this out! Thanks for the heads up :D x

  2. I'm the same as I have been having a few breakouts recently, so I will definitely be giving this a go! I like the fact it is a serum as it doesn't sound like it will be harsh on the skin.

    Thanks, Helen xx

  3. I've never tried the fresh skin range but in general I love Elemis! I would recommend just about very product of theirs that I've used but my budget can't stretch to a full Elemis routine so I just stick to their masks and exfoliators now xx
