Winter Hair

After two years of my bleach blonde hair, I decided to try and get back to my natural colour, which is a dark blonde. I have been thinking about doing this for a while but kept wussing out, so yesterday I took the plunge and just did it. I chose Garnier Shade 7 'Dark Blonde', in a foam rather than a creme dye.
Let me talk first of all about how much I got on with the foam dye. I had never used a foam dye before so I was looking forward to seeing how it would work, and I can say confidently that it is so much easier than creme dye. The preparation was done in a few simple steps, there was no worrying whether I'd over shaken the bottle, or not shaken it enough as it tells you clearly how much to mix the formula yourself. Also, with creme dyes, I always found it a pain in the neck to squeeze the colour out of the little tube into the developing mixture, so pouring the colour into the developing mixture instead was a really welcomed surprise. Literally, you can prepare the foam in a matter of minutes, it's quick and hassle free.

The actual application of the dye was also a much better experience with the foam. For once, there wasn't hair dye all over my bathroom like there normally is when me and my mum dye our hair. Although I did have to ask my boyfriend to occasionally wipe some of the dye off my forehead, it was generally a lot less of a messy ordeal. The coverage was nice and even as well, although there is a small bit which in the sun looks a lot lighter than the rest of my hair, but I don't know whether that is because of bad coverage, or because of the tones in the dye. Either way, it's not too much of a massive problem because it just looks like subtle highlights in the light.

When I did first wash the dye off and dye my hair, I was mortified because it was a lot darker than I thought it would be. On reflection, it isn't too much different from the picture, just a bit darker, it is just a massive change from what I am used to. It is growing on me the more I look at it, and my friends and boyfriend say it looks nice (whether they're lying or not I'll never know), so I think in a few weeks I'll be used to it. I do love it as a winter hair colour, it's a lot warmer than my blonde hair so very suitable for the cold winter we have coming up!
